St. Louis Empowerment Center
The St. Louis Empowerment Center was Designed to meet the needs of St. Louis City residents with mental illness through the "self-help" model. All of the activities and programs at the St. Louis Empowerment Center are free of charge. Although many social workers, psychiatrists, and therapists recommend the Empowerment Center to consumers, you do not need a referral to attend. All consumers, including the Homeless, are welcome to participate in Empowerment Center activities and programs.
Guidance for Goals
Guidance for Goals is a case management program designed to help participants meet their goals in life. Case workers are assigned to interested participants in order to help them meet such goals as housing, employment, life-skills, access to the mental health system, anger management, and social security. You do not have to be involved in the Guidance for Goals program in order to attend the St. Louis Empowerment Center.
Self-Help Groups
The St. Louis Empowerment Center hold daily self-help groups on site. Some of the groups that are held include: DBSA, Procovery, Cocaine Anonymous, and Dual Diagnosis.
Classes
The St. Louis Empowerment Center offers several classes on site. These classes include: GED classes, "Our Town" - Learning to tell our stories, Anger Management, and Art Classes. All of these classes are free of charge.
Peer Specialists
The St. Louis Empowerment Center now has four Certified Missouri Peer Specialists on staff to assist participants.
